Willie "Rip" Butler, a local musician
and member of the Wesley Jefferson Southern Soul & Blues
Band has recently been hospitalized due to heart problems.
After going to the emergency room, he learned that two of
his arteries are 100% blocked and another one is 75% blocked.
He is currently at home until he is able to have heart surgery.
It is uncertain if he will be able to return to work. Cards

Blues Museum mourns the loss of Willie Mitchell, a record
producer, label head and musician who worked with Al Green
and many others. He died Tuesday, Jan. 5 at Methodist University
Hospital in Memphis. He was 81.

of the legendary Sam Carr. Born Sam Lee McCollum, the son
of Robert Lee McCollum (the legendary slide guitar player
Robert Nighthawk) he was adopted by the Carr family at an
early age. Sam is best known for his longtime association
with Frank Frost & the Jelly Roll Kings. He was preceded
in death last November by his wife of sixty-seven years,
Doris Carr. Sam was 83.

As usual, we as Americans have more to be thankful for
